About the Role

The Manufacturing Leadership Program is a 2-year development program designed to train participants as manufacturing engineers within a production facility. The program includes serving as a manufacturing engineer for two production lines, leading cross-functional projects in maintenance and operations, and opportunities for further development. Upon completion, participants may transition into a full manufacturing engineer role, with potential for travel to other facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment and fostering a safety-first culture.
  • Ensuring all control plans, work instructions, and technical operation procedures prioritize employee safety.
  • Developing risk assessments for critical tasks using tools like HAZOP and FMEA.
  • Identifying, understanding, and teaching Critical Product Characteristics to ensure product quality.
  • Developing and implementing procedures and work instructions to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Supporting experiments for new and existing products to ensure they meet customer fitness for use.
  • Conducting process audits to review Critical Product Characteristics and Critical Process Variables, implementing corrective actions.
  • Determining process consistency and capability (Cpk).
  • Implementing control charting schemes for Critical Process Variables.
  • Developing and implementing Operator Control Plans to meet specifications at the lowest cost.
  • Identifying and eliminating common causes of product and process variation (troubleshooting).
  • Analyzing product and process data to provide feedback and recommendations for optimization.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements and best practices.
  • Implementing corrective actions for issues identified through quality complaints and hold tags.
  • Coaching, counseling, and training employees on process control.
  • Establishing processes for all critical tasks and auditing for adherence.
  • Partnering with maintenance to resolve equipment issues.
  • Identifying and requesting capital funding for equipment and modifications, and supporting capital project implementation.
  • Educating employees on the manufacturing process and process control procedures.
  • Partnering with employees to develop and implement Operator Control Plans.
  • Partnering with Maintenance to develop and implement Operator Based Care plans.
  • Developing technical curriculum for operator training.
  • Partnering with Operations to test operator competency.
  • Training and testing developing engineering talent.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering graduating in 2027.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Manufacturing experience within a co-op or internship program is beneficial.
  • Completion of an engineering-related Development Program or similar experience is preferred.
  • Understands customer needs, product specifications, basic cost drivers, and Critical Process Variables (CPVs).
  • Ability to execute systems within TPM (Tagging, 5S, CIL, HTA/ SOC removal).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve process and equipment issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Leads Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and implementation of countermeasures.
  • Understands statistical concepts including trial design, data analysis, control charts, process capability, and design of experiments.
  • Understands basic elements of producing fiberglass including raw materials, processes, and control systems.
  • Ability to communicate with and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously.
  • Lean Certification or evidence of Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Highly ethical and trustworthy.
  • Results-oriented with a strong service orientation and positive attitude.
  • Change agent capable of creating a vision for improved performance and engaging others.
  • Ability to travel 5-10%.
