About the Role
The Power Pathway leads the Foundation’s efforts to ensure that Bay Area residents have a strong political voice and can shape the decisions that impact their lives and communities. This role supports community-based organizations in building the power needed to win governing power.
Responsibilities
- Support programmatic activities, including research, strategy development, outreach to prospective grant applicants, proposal review, due diligence, site visits, grant recommendations, grantee communications, and progress reporting
- Build and maintain authentic relationships with grantees, community and movement leaders, funders, and other key partners by sharing information, facilitating connections, problem-solving, and coordinating resources
- Lead or contribute to special assignments which may include outreach, meeting planning, communication with constituents, project implementation, and partnership development
- Coordinate and support convenings, which may include grantee mixers, briefings, coalition meetings, and other events, that foster learning, build trust, and promote transparency between the Power team and internal and external partners
- Conduct research, monitor emerging trends, and practice, and share insights with SFF colleagues and external partners through written materials, presentations, convenings, and other communications
- Support fundraising efforts through research, presentations, and written reports
- Collaborate across Foundation departments—including Philanthropy and Gift Planning, Grants Management, Finance, Marketing and Communications, and the Office of the CEO—to support cross-functional initiatives and organizational priorities
- Conduct outreach, evaluate grant proposals, perform due diligence, and develop grant recommendations for Rapid Response Fund for Movement Building
- Provide administrative support including scheduling, meeting coordination, agenda development, and documentation
Requirements
- 3-5 years of relevant professional experience
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Experience conducting research and synthesizing information into actionable insights
- Strong organizational, project management, and administrative coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder needs
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
- High attention to detail and quality control across work products
- Ability to work independently and in team environments across diverse groups
- Intermediate to advanced computer/software skills, including Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, & Teams) and Zoom.
- Familiarity and interest in A.I.
- Ability to learn, navigate and manage online platforms, including Fluxx, Qliksense, Smartsheet, Salesforce.
