About the Role
The Admissions Counselor assists in the recruitment, evaluation, selection, and enrollment of candidates to Penn's Schools. This role involves serving as a speaker in various forums, managing inquiries, and reviewing applicants to achieve the institution's goals of enrolling accomplished students from diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the annual comprehensive evaluation and selection process for first-year and transfer students.
- Support office-wide programs and projects as assigned.
- Support the Admissions Visit Center and Client Care in daily operations, including welcoming visitors and handling inquiries.
- Manage a geographic territory to identify, recruit, and yield candidates.
- Lead virtual and in-person recruitment activities, including evening/weekend programs, school visits, college fairs, and alumni programs.
- Engage in 1-3 weeks of recruitment travel.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts and 1-2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Ability to balance an individual schedule with multiple organizational calendars/schedules in a high-volume, timeline-driven process.
- Dynamic written communication skills.
- Customer service skills.
- Public speaking skills.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Volunteer, leadership, or professional experience in higher education, college counseling, managing volunteers, or familiarity with evaluating applications is appreciated.
- Experience working with underrepresented populations in higher education is appreciated.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
