About the Role
The Senior Construction Lead will oversee the delivery of Joe & the Juice's new store and renovation program across the UK and Ireland, managing projects from design through to completion. This role involves setting standards for program, cost, and quality, optimizing bar setup and layout efficiency, and leading a team of Construction Project Managers. The lead will also build the local supplier and contractor network and collaborate with internal teams to ensure stores are built to a world-class standard.
Responsibilities
- Own construction subject-matter expertise for the UK & ROI, partnering with local management and the global growth team.
- Set the local construction strategy, build a contractor and supplier network, negotiate commercial terms, and hold performance accountable.
- Lead and develop a team of Construction Project Managers, setting scope, managing performance, and growing capability.
- Partner with Real Estate to manage the full lifecycle of new store projects.
- Manage all stages of new store construction and fit-out, including design, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Ensure projects comply with landlord, retailer, and UK & ROI regulatory requirements.
- Interpret CAD drawings and technical documents, translating requirements for contractors and consultants.
- Conduct site inspections, chair site meetings, identify and resolve defects.
- Utilize market cost benchmarks to protect commercial value and identify efficiencies.
- Develop cost estimates and construction schedules, secure financial approval, and report on variances.
- Lead tender processes, evaluate bids, and maintain global pricing competitiveness.
- Track cost savings, drive CAPEX optimization, and approve final accounts.
- Collaborate with Finance, Design, Architects, Contractors, and IT to ensure project alignment.
- Translate brand, design, and operational requirements into project deliverables.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactively identify and address deviations to opening dates or budgets.
- Ensure all projects adhere to company standards, driving health & safety and CDM compliance.
- Manage the risk register, change request log, and budget tracker.
- Conduct post-project audits and reviews to capture lessons learned.
- Provide weekly updates to senior leadership on project status, risks, and changes.
- Oversee detailed design phases to align with brand and operational needs.
- Coordinate with supply chain and contractors to meet time and budget targets.
- Manage statutory approvals and landlord consents.
- Support refurbishments and remodels with the Facilities team.
- Deliver completed stores to the UK & ROI Operations team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of experience leading construction or project delivery, preferably in multi-site retail or hospitality.
- Proven track record of managing multi-site rollouts, fit-outs, and external vendors across the UK, with ideally some ROI exposure.
- Deep technical knowledge of construction, fit-out, and UK/ROI building regulations, including CDM.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in procurement strategy and cost control.
- Proficiency in project management platforms.
- Ability to execute strategic plans.
