About the Role
Side is recruiting a Translator (Japanese to English) for our global translation operation, seeking candidates with advanced language skills and in-depth cultural knowledge. You will translate video game content and associated text from Japanese to English, ensuring high linguistic quality and adherence to guidelines while working within a team of language specialists.
Responsibilities
- Create or help create glossaries and style guides following pre-defined client guidelines.
- Create or help create characterisation documents.
- Carry out translation work following provided guidelines and instructions, including First Party terminology.
- Carry out revision work following provided guidelines and instructions, including First Party terminology.
- Work as part of a larger team of translators or revisers.
- Provide linguistic feedback for work carried out externally.
- Meet outlined deadlines and industry-standard productivity figures.
Requirements
- Native-level English speaker.
- Fluent-level Japanese (JLPT N2).
- Born and raised in an English-speaking environment.
- Experience within translation, preferably in the Manga or gaming industry.
- Proactive with clear and effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and stay focused.
- Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Sound research and translation judgment skills.
- Self-motivation, adaptability, and professionalism.
Skills
- Knowledge of translation tools (e.g., memoQ) is a plus.

Work Type
- Hybrid: 3 days remote, 2 days onsite
- Contract: 3-6 months (auto-renewal)
