About the Role
Thermo Fisher Scientific's internship program serves as a strategic pipeline for future leadership talent. Interns demonstrating exceptional performance, leadership potential, and value alignment may be considered for full-time opportunities post-graduation, including entry into Leadership Development Programs (LDPs) or other early career roles. Applicants must be geographically flexible and mobile for both internship assignments and potential future employment. Onsite and in-office work is an essential function of this role.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for manufacturing, operations, product development, and growth initiatives.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges and achieve business objectives.
- Support the design, development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes, equipment, and product designs.
- Analyze manufacturing and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in testing, process execution, and manufacturing quality activities.
- Create, maintain, and improve engineering and manufacturing documentation.
- Gain hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Apply continuous improvement methodologies to support operational improvement projects.
- Define and execute assigned project activities and deliverables.
- Communicate project findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Undergraduate student completing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering field between December 2027 – June 2028.
- 1+ years of previous related internships and/or work experience.
- Proven leadership experience through various organizations and activities.
- Track record of influencing others, leading initiatives, and driving results.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt to changing priorities, and solve complex problems.
- Evidence of grit, resilience, and perseverance.
- Strong learning agility, intellectual curiosity, and an innovative mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and emotional intelligence.
- Geographic mobility and flexibility required.
- Onsite and in-office work is required.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must not require sponsorship (current or future) for employment visa status.
- Not eligible for F-1, J-1, H-1, OPT, and CPT Visas for practical experience.

- $18.50 - $28.75 per hour
- $21.50–$28.75 per hour (New York)
