About the Role

Virescent Ventures is seeking an Investment Associate to join their climate tech investment team. This role involves identifying, analyzing, and supporting founders and technologies that can reshape the physical economy and accelerate the transition to a lower-emissions future. The work directly contributes to deciding which companies to back, how to support their growth, and where capital can achieve both significant climate impact and strong commercial returns.

Responsibilities

Source and evaluate investment opportunities across the full investment lifecycle.
Conduct technology and commercial diligence, including market research and expert interviews.
Engage with founders developing impactful climate technologies.
Analyze pitches, build financial models, and frame investment recommendations.
Execute deals by writing recommendations, reviewing legal documents, and managing transaction processes.
Support portfolio companies through special projects and follow-on investment assessments.
Assist with investor reporting and the development of Virescent’s investment practice.

Requirements

Highly motivated, intellectually curious, and energized by learning.
Ability to work with entrepreneurs in a fast-paced team environment with changing priorities.
Comfortable using AI tools to enhance work quality, speed, and creativity.
Strong analytical skills, including interpreting financial information and making progress with incomplete data.
Scientifically literate and commercially rigorous.
Ability to assemble diverse evidence to test and verify claims.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build trusted relationships with founders, peers, and portfolio companies.
A deep interest in climate tech combined with the discipline to assess commercial returns.
Strong attention to detail and high standards of accuracy.
A reputation for integrity in the investment and start-up communities.
Three to five or more years of post-tertiary work experience in a relevant role.
Experience in venture capital, private equity, management consulting, corporate finance, investment banking, or a start-up is highly regarded.
