About the Role
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the integration, testing, debugging, maintenance, and support of electrical assemblies and aspects of focused ion and electron beam systems. The role involves supporting and contributing to the development and performance improvements of these complex electro-mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Participate in multi-disciplinary R&D teams for product creation, system integration, and testing, including hands-on debugging of electrical designs.
- Design cable assemblies, backplanes, and power distribution boards.
- Create and maintain technical product documentation for new and existing products.
- Manage and execute Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Orders (ECOs).
- Manage supplier and contractor engineering activities, including failure analysis and design work.
- Organize and execute product safety and compliance activities, including documentation compilation.
- Support the Sourcing organization and suppliers with engineering expertise on electrical components and assemblies.
- Support manufacturing and Service organizations and external customers regarding electrical components and assemblies.
- Engage in infrequent national and international travel, if required.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
- 0-3 years of experience in an electrical/electronics product development/support engineering role, addressing modules and systems in the capital equipment or related industry, or experience with large and complex instrumentation.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for conveying technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proven understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals with practical and applied knowledge.
- Proven experience with product management tools and processes, such as ECR/ECO processes and TPD databases.
- Proven ability to manage third parties and external contacts to achieve deliverables on time and within budget.
- Adequate understanding of design tools and manufacturing processes for PCBs and cable assemblies.
- Knowledge of product safety and compliance is a plus.
