About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and ambitious Senior Account Manager to lead key client accounts and deliver high-quality medical communications projects. This role offers greater autonomy, team oversight, and the opportunity to stretch into broader responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong, trusted client relationships, acting as a key point of contact for strategic and day-to-day discussions.
- Develop strong relationships with key client stakeholders, including Medical Affairs and Commercial teams.
- Lead client meetings, presentations, and status calls with confidence and clarity.
- Provide strategic counsel and contribute to account planning to support long-term client objectives.
- Support global and affiliate market programmes, building relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Anticipate client needs, proactively add value, and identify opportunities for account growth.
- Support business development activities, proposals, pitches, and capabilities presentations.
- Support product, brand, or data launch activities from planning through execution.
- Support Account Directors in shaping long-term account and project strategies.
- Oversee end-to-end delivery of multiple, complex medical communications projects.
- Create accurate project estimates, schedules, and resource plans.
- Build strong partnerships with scientific, creative, and digital teams to drive integrated solutions.
- Brief and coordinate internal teams across content, creative, and digital functions.
- Ensure all outputs are high-quality, scientifically accurate, compliant, and aligned with client expectations.
- Manage project budgets, financial performance, forecasting, and profitability.
- Ensure timely logging of costs, invoicing, and reconciliations.
- Promote best practice in communication, project management, and client service.
- Mentor, line-manage, and develop Account Managers, Account Executives, and other junior team members.
Requirements
- Scientifically literate, with a bachelor's degree or higher (preferably in biomedical sciences) or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven experience within a medical communications agency, with strong exposure to Medical Affairs.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare environment, including Medical Affairs functions, Commercial stakeholder needs, compliance requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience working across multiple therapy areas; prior exposure to immunology is advantageous.
- Demonstrated success delivering a wide range of medical communications activities.
- Experience partnering with both Medical Affairs and Commercial stakeholders, understanding their differing priorities and requirements.
- Experience working with global and affiliate market teams and managing complex stakeholder networks is advantageous.
- Exposure to product, brand, or data launch activities, including cross-functional planning and execution, is beneficial.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness, including the ability to identify opportunities for account growth and contribute to business development activities.
- Ability to provide strategic input and confidently communicate recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to develop trusted partnerships across clients, internal teams, and external experts.
- Proactive, confident, and able to build strong, positive relationships quickly with both clients and internal teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or line-managing junior team members.
