About the Role

As a founding engineer on a new AI team within the CEO's office, you will be responsible for making AI a default part of how every team at Shine operates. You will work directly with business teams to understand their workflows and design, build, and ship AI tools and automations that transform their operations. This role requires end-to-end ownership and is measured by the number of workflows permanently transformed and teams that adopt AI-first practices.

Responsibilities

Work directly with individual business teams and leaders as an AI evangelist to understand their day-to-day workflows and identify high-leverage opportunities for AI.
Design, build, and ship custom AI tools, agents, and automations tailored to each team's specific needs.
Coach and partner with teams through a practical adoption journey, from initial wins to full workflow transformation.
Track and report on adoption and impact to guide future focus.
Own end-to-end development from prototype to reliable daily use.
Collaborate with the Head of Business Performance to prioritize AI adoption for maximum business impact.

Requirements

8+ years of engineering experience with a strong track record of shipping and operating production systems.
Hands-on experience building AI-powered tools, agents, or automations that changed team workflows.
Proven ability to work autonomously and own projects end-to-end with minimal supervision.
Comfortable spending time with non-technical stakeholders to understand their workflows.
Strong entrepreneurial instincts and enthusiasm for evangelizing AI adoption.
Excellent communication and coaching skills.
Background in consulting, solutions engineering, or another client/stakeholder-facing technical role is a plus.
Experience in a startup or scale-up environment as one of very few engineers on a new initiative is a plus.
Experience with modern AI/agent frameworks (e.g. LangGraph, MCP) and API-first integration work is a plus.
Exposure to fintech or another regulated industry is a plus.
