About the Role
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) is seeking a Software Engineer for its Integrated Mission Systems (IMS) team in San Diego, CA. This role involves designing, building, testing, and delivering secure, integrated software solutions for complex, mission-critical US Department of Defense systems, addressing some of the Navy's toughest challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design, integrate, troubleshoot, test, deliver, and update software code, documenting associated architectures, processes, procedures, and techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and develop front-and-back end features and architecture.
- Adhere to government and industry security, reliability, and performance standards.
- Apply orthodox programming paradigms and interpret/apply DoD and industry standards.
- Participate in peer reviews, configuration, design, and performance reviews.
- Utilize common tools and best engineering practices, including Jenkins pipelines, third-party software integration, and Kubernetes environments.
- Assist with containerization, configuration management, and customization of software.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot Jenkins pipelines for software deployment.
- Integrate third-party and externally developed software into a container runtime environment.
- Configure, adapt, and validate software components within a Kubernetes environment.
- Integrate with internal systems and third-party applications.
- Assist with containerization, configuration management, and customization of vendor or open-source software.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cyber security, mathematics, or aeronautical engineering) or equivalent full-time experience.
- 3+ years of experience with Git or similar version control systems.
- 3+ years of experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, Java, or JavaScript.
- 3+ years of experience with container concepts (Docker/OCI/Podman images, containers, registries).
- 3+ years of experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., Postgres).
- 3+ years of experience with Linux-based systems command-line usage and file/system permissions.
- 3+ years of experience with React or similar modern frontend frameworks.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Ability to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
