About the Role
Flannery is one of the UK’s largest plant hire businesses, generating substantial data across various operations. The Data & Insight team owns the entire data chain, from ingestion to reporting, and delivers customer-facing reporting. This role offers broad business exposure, allowing you to work end-to-end on data models, reports, and applications, influencing the team's direction as it grows.
Responsibilities
- Design and build Power BI and Fabric semantic models and reports.
- Deliver customer-facing reporting under row-level security.
- Write and maintain SQL views for the reporting estate.
- Collaborate with department heads and senior leadership to define requirements.
- Build business applications in Power Apps.
- Design Power Automate flows to automate manual processes.
- Build and maintain API integrations using Fabric notebooks and Python.
- Assess new business software for data accessibility and design integrations.
- Manage data quality, master data, and ensure data trustworthiness.
Requirements
- Approximately three years in a data, BI, or Power Platform role.
- Strong Power BI skills, including semantic modeling and advanced DAX.
- Confident SQL skills for writing and optimizing views and queries.
- Experience with at least one of Power Apps, Power Automate, or API integration.
- Ability to work end-to-end on projects, from problem definition to support.
- Stakeholder credibility to engage with department heads and customers.
- Curiosity about the overall business operations.
- Good judgment regarding quality versus speed of delivery.

- We supply and operate machines on most of the country’s major construction and infrastructure projects.
- The Data & Insight team is small, in-house, and owns the whole chain — from getting data out of source systems to putting it in front of a director or a customer.
- We deliver secure, segregated reporting directly to our customers.
- Our ingestion layer is being rebuilt in Microsoft Fabric, our reporting is Power BI and Fabric, our applications are Power Apps and Power Automate, our integrations are APIs called from Fabric notebooks and Python, and there is an on-premise SQL estate underneath it all.
