About the Role
The Computer Vision & Graphics group within the Vision & Imaging Technologies department is seeking dedicated student assistants to contribute to innovative research projects in Deep Learning and medical image processing. Analyzing and understanding image and video data using modern neural networks is a key component for the next generation of image-guided surgical procedures. Our projects focus on developing AI-based methods for registration, analysis, and interpretation of surgical stereo, spectral, and other image data. Our goal is to create measurable added value for the surgical workflow through intelligent 2D and 3D image and video understanding. Join our team and embark on an innovation journey with us!
Responsibilities
- Phase and instrument recognition in laparoscopic image data for automated identification of surgical steps, as well as detection and segmentation of anatomical and surgical landmarks using modern deep learning approaches and novel training concepts.
- Analysis of hyperspectral image data for tissue and object classification, as well as reconstruction and spatial refinement of hyperspectral information by combining different model architectures.
- Development and integration of 3D reconstruction methods for the analysis of medical stereo endoscopy data, including camera calibration, depth estimation, and geometric modeling of surgical scenes.
