About the Role
A macroeconomist is needed to join the Latin America team, reporting to the Senior Emerging Markets economist. This role requires strong analytical skills, a willingness to challenge consensus, and clear, concise communication. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to research on Latin America and broader emerging markets.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to views and generate forecasts for key Latin American economies and their financial markets.
- Identify where consensus expectations may be incorrect.
- Produce frequent, high-quality written economic analysis for clients, ranging from short notes to detailed publications.
- Present economic views directly to clients in person, via phone, conference calls, or seminars as expertise grows.
- Build a personal profile, including through media appearances.
Requirements
- A strong academic background with at least a good undergraduate degree in economics or a related discipline.
- A minimum of two years of experience analyzing macroeconomic issues within the public sector, a financial institution, or a research organization.
- Previous experience covering Latin America is advantageous but not essential.
- The ability to communicate in an engaging and authoritative manner.
- Willingness to contribute to internal debates and present company views to external parties.
- Strong writing skills are essential for structuring written arguments clearly and concisely in English.
