About the Role
Our paid Intern & Placement programme offers hands-on insight into our work, helping you develop skills and knowledge in your chosen field. Supported by signposted training and based on Arcadis’ core values, the programme provides technical training and personal development. You will gain experience on real projects and clients over a 10–12-week internship or 12-month placement. As an engineer, you will specialize in your chosen discipline, gaining the experiences needed to become a technical expert. Engineering at Arcadis involves applying a human filter to technical expertise, driving impact through innovation and creativity. During the 12-month programme, you will develop core engineering and consulting techniques applicable to UK and international clients.
Responsibilities
- Deliver design and interact with other professionals on projects of varying scales.
- Use advanced design tools and techniques to develop structural solutions for new and existing buildings.
- Design new substructures and superstructures using different materials.
- Assess existing structures.
- Review proposals from contractors or external consultants.
- Coordinate with other disciplines.
- Conduct site visits and perform other technical tasks.
- Assist in managing projects and their costs within the structural team.
Requirements
- Working towards a degree in a relevant subject (Placement & Intern only).
- Demonstrate typical Arcadian skills including Resilience, Creativity, Analytical Thinking and being a Team Player.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to use technical knowledge to influence and consult stakeholders.
- Willing to travel and stay away from home when required (virtual working is embraced where possible).
- Comfortable with site-based working when required for projects.
