About the Role

P&G is seeking a highly creative and proactive Design Director to lead design strategy and execution for the Japan/Korea markets. This role involves shaping the look and feel of billion-dollar brands across branding, packaging, and digital touchpoints, managing a multi-talented team, and collaborating with cross-functional partners and external agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Represent design in matrix organization to influence leadership, ensuring designs are on brand, elevated, and high quality.
  • Lead and oversee multiple initiatives from design strategy to execution, articulating local consumer needs and business context.
  • Develop consumer-winning concepts across touchpoints based on campaign needs, including innovative package design, digital design, brand identity/assets creation, and photography.
  • Translate consumer insights and business needs into appealing design solutions.
  • Coach and mentor a team of designers and print production managers/specialists to ensure high design quality, efficient workflow, and team capability growth.
  • Own and drive design priorities, work processes, budgets, and tools for the design team.
  • Lead assigned projects to ensure timely and on-budget delivery while maintaining strong communication with key partners.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a similar field.
  • 10-18 years of agency/design studio/in-house experience in graphic design, art direction, digital design, and package design within the beauty industry.
  • Design leadership skills to represent design in key decision-making processes.
  • Experience leading a team and external agency partners.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and culture.
  • Experience working on the Japan market is required.
  • Strong understanding of basic print production management.
  • Sophisticated visual design aesthetic.
  • Proficiency on Mac platform with Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design.
  • After Effects, Premiere Pro, and 3-D drawing programs are a plus.
  • Unwavering attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to problem-solve and mitigate challenges ahead of due dates.
  • Consistently deliver excellence and encourage team members.
  • Strategic and thoughtful approach to design and branding.
  • Strong project management and organization skills.
  • Proficiency in Japanese language is preferred.
