About the Role

The Peer Tutor will provide homework help and tutoring to high school students in subjects like Math, Science, and English Language Arts. This role also involves supporting group leaders, offering academic guidance, and assisting with administrative tasks. The position is part of the School Violence Prevention Program, aiming to create a safe and supportive environment for students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide homework help and tutoring in Mathematics, Science, and English Language Arts to high school students in individual or small group settings.
  • Support Group Leaders and the Education Specialist in evaluating program activities.
  • Offer academic guidance and mentorship to students.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including data entry, compiling, filing, and organizing participant folders.
  • Adhere to all program policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Requirements

  • Current student in a participating high school with a minimum 3.3 (87+) cumulative GPA.
  • Prior tutoring experience, especially with high school youth.
