About the Role
The NDA After-School Program offers youth participants a wide range of enrichment workshops to promote lifelong skills needed to succeed academically, socially, and professionally. These workshops include academic tutoring, college and work readiness, leadership development, guest speaker series, mentoring opportunities, and recreational activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide high school students with individualized and/or small group homework help and tutoring, preferably in STEM subjects like Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus) and Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
- Develop and facilitate informative and interactive workshops related to positive, holistic youth development.
- Coordinate the scheduling of guest speakers, community service opportunities, and field trips (e.g., college visits, recreational activities) within program guidelines.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Requirements
- High School degree required.
- Prior experience in academic tutoring, especially with the high school youth population.
- Must possess the necessary content knowledge, experience, and skills to implement program activities effectively, including executing lesson plans and leading structured educational, recreational, and cultural activities for youth.
Skills
- Strong work ethic and demonstrated passion for youth development, especially working with low-income and immigrant populations.
- Strong social and emotional maturity and behavioral management skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in Arabic and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) or Spanish is a plus.
