About the Role

The Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) is seeking a Youth Development Coach to support high school students in their academic, financial, and professional goals. This role involves facilitating workshops, providing individualized guidance, and connecting youth and families with CPC's resources. The position is crucial for empowering youth through the School Violence Prevention Program (SVP) and the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), fostering positive development and community engagement.

Responsibilities

Act as a liaison between CPC, worksites/industry partners, and funding agencies.
Assist and guide high school students with their short- and long-term goals (academic, financial, professional).
Refer CPC’s direct services and resources to youth and families navigating American culture.
Develop and facilitate informative and interactive workshops on positive, holistic youth development.
Provide individualized guidance, counseling, and case management services.
Enter participant case notes and track progress, including services received.
Assist with recruitment, enrollment, and retention of program participants.
Maintain participant files/programmatic documents and track attendance, progress, and outcomes.
Establish and develop new partnerships with various sectors and industries, and maintain ongoing relationships with existing partnerships.
Streamline an effective process for enrollment and job placement.
Plan and facilitate work readiness training, interactive project-based learning workshops, and program orientation.
Comply with all DYCD policies and administrative procedures.
Provide support and/or troubleshooting for program-related inquiries.
Perform weekly assessments with worksites; survey and evaluate participants and worksites.
Assist with program audits, closeouts, and site visits administered by DYCD.
Attend staff meetings and training as required by CPC and DYCD.
Assist with administrative aspects of the SYEP program, including data entry, compiling, filing, and organizing/maintaining worksite and participant folders.
Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Requirements

College graduate preferred.
Prior experience working with High School youths and families is preferred but not necessary.
Willingness to travel to worksites via public transportation.

Skills

Strong work ethic and demonstrated passion for youth development.
Dynamic, engaging, and capable of effectively working in a team environment.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of teen and immigrant issues helpful.
Knowledge of MS Office applications and virtual platforms (Zoom, Teams, Webex).
Bilingual fluency in English and any of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, Spanish.

The School Violence Prevention Program (SVP) provides students with a safe, supportive environment focused on preventing violence and promoting positive decision-making.
Through mentoring, conflict-resolution workshops, social-emotional learning, leadership activities, academic support, and recreational enrichment, students develop communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
The program empowers youth to manage conflicts peacefully, build positive relationships, and contribute to a safe and supportive school community.
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides New York City youth between the ages of 14 to 24 with paid, summer work experience and project-based learning opportunities for up to six weeks in July and August.
Participants work in entry-level positions across a variety of sectors and industries, and are provided with workshops on job readiness, career exploration, financial literacy, continuing education, and other life skills.
