About the Role

This role serves as an Individual Contributor, focusing on Japan Customs Operations, Compliance, and Logistics. The position requires deep expertise in these areas to solve complex business issues and contribute to new methods and policies. The role involves leading functional project teams and participating in cross-functional initiatives, often representing the organization to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Act as import/export operation lead and Customs Ops country lead in HPE JP AEO control program.
  • Report monthly review items to Mariko and conduct annual training and audits for HPE business units and logistics partners.
  • Attend AEO Customs on-site audits (every 3 years) and Customs audits (approx. every 3-7 years) as import/export operation lead and JP Customs Ops country lead.
  • Review and approve applications for Blanket “Value declaration form II (C-5310)” to Customs for internal orders to use Reference Price for declaration, complying with JP valuation system.
  • Issue letters to authorities for any incompliance incidents found.
  • Raise any changes to HPE pricing methodology to Customs when needed.
  • Serve as the escalated point for Customs and Compliance issues, including DG shipment.
  • Act as DG Cert Holder, IATA certified (added advantage).
  • Attend internal GT transaction audits.
  • Serve as the Focal Point of Logistics against business/legal/finance stakeholders.
  • Act as an escalation point for month-end/quarter-end revenue critical shipments/deliveries against business stakeholders.
  • Manage KPI for transportation and performance review of LSPs.
  • Manage POD.
  • Conduct for new business models with business stakeholders, for Projects and more.
  • Proactively release news for country events that may impact local delivery, such as natural disasters.
  • Serve as the initial escalation point for IT issues (SAP, EDI, Pulse issues).
  • Act as Node Consolidation and SERP operational observer.
  • Participate in Supply chain managers’ committee (weekly meeting and monthly performance review).
  • Conduct Trading Expenses review with Finance as JP country logistics lead.

Requirements

  • First level university degree or equivalent experience; advanced university degree preferred.
  • Typically 6-15 years of experience in a supply chain function.
  • Experience in more than one supply chain function.
  • 6-15 years of experience in a customs/global trade function.
  • Broker's license is an additional advantage.

Skills

  • Excellent understanding of supply chain processes (Customs, Logistics and supply chain).
  • Identifies cutting edge analytical tools, models and methods for making key business decisions.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills; mastery in English and local language.
  • Excellent internal and external relationship management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of how to analyze business problems using Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), statistical analysis, and financial modelling.
  • Very Strong project management skills, with capability to manage cross functional teams in multiple geographies.
  • Strong business acumen and technical knowledge within area of responsibility.
  • Very strong understanding of the company's overall supply chain strategy.
  • Excellent understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), ATP and master scheduling.
  • Excellent understanding of national and international trade requirements to align customs/trade function with business objectives.
  • Thorough knowledge of inventory modelling and analysis.
  • Strong leadership skills including team-building and conflict resolution and management.
