About the Role
General Compute is seeking a leader to own the physical build-out of our ASIC compute infrastructure, from delivered hardware to a production-ready cluster, and ensure its ongoing operation.
Responsibilities
- Own hands-on deployment of ASIC compute clusters end-to-end, including hardware installation, rack-and-stack, cabling, power-up, and commissioning.
- Lead data-center engineering operations, managing power, cooling, and network infrastructure for all sites.
- Set and own deployment timelines and quality standards across sites, managing commissioning, testing, and punch lists.
- Translate cluster requirements for power density, cooling, and networking into technical specifications for site sourcing.
- Oversee technical aspects of vendor relationships, including hardware vendors, remote-hands providers, and commissioning contractors.
- Build and lead the deployment and operations team as the physical footprint scales.
Requirements
- Direct, hands-on experience deploying or commissioning GPU or ASIC compute infrastructure at scale within a compute infrastructure company or as a senior data-center operations leader.
- Proven track record leading data-center engineering and operations teams, including commissioning, facility engineering, cluster bring-up, and steady-state reliability.
- Technical fluency in power, cooling, and networking as they relate to high-density AI compute.
- Willingness to be hands-on in a builder role within a small team.
- Ability to operate with speed, with the first cluster expected online in the coming months.
- Direct communication style and readiness to perform physical infrastructure work personally when necessary.
