About the Role

Clio is seeking a Manager, Legal Architecture, SMB to build and lead a team of six Legal Architects. This new, high-visibility role will bring legal credibility to Clio's SMB sales motion, focusing on law firms with up to 200 attorneys. The position is a player-coach role, responsible for hiring, coaching, developing the team, setting coverage strategy, managing capacity, and building the operating model for an expanding function. The role also involves hands-on engagement with strategic accounts, product launches, and thought leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Build and grow the team, including hiring, coaching, and developing six Legal Architects.
  • Set the culture, quality bar, and career path for a new team.
  • Own the coverage model, assigning coverage by motion and segment.
  • Manage capacity against demand.
  • Personally lead a small set of strategic accounts, marquee demos, and product launches.
  • Step in on difficult legal, ethical, and technical objections.
  • Own programs to make the Sales organization more legally fluent.
  • Standardize reusable demos, prompt libraries, playbooks, and practice-area content.
  • Translate field insights into product direction with Product and Engineering.
  • Align messaging with Marketing and Enablement.
  • Coordinate with Enterprise Legal Architects to share learnings.
  • Support forecasting and pipeline reviews.
  • Track the team's impact.
  • Hold a consistent bar for quality, accuracy, and vetting across every segment.

Requirements

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent, with practicing experience.
  • People leadership experience, including managing or leading a team, or demonstrated player-coach success.
  • Customer-facing track record, comfortable in discovery, demonstrations, and navigating objections with senior legal stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of AI, LLMs, and their application to legal drafting, research, and workflows.
  • Exceptional communication and EQ skills.
  • Comfort building in ambiguity within a fast-moving, high-growth environment.
  • Experience leading a legal innovation, pre-sales, or go-to-market team in legal technology (bonus).
  • Experience building or scaling sales enablement programs from the ground up (bonus).
  • Active involvement in legal innovation communities or bar association technology committees (bonus).

Salary/Compensations

  • Base salary range: $126,400 - $189,600 USD
  • On-target earnings (OTE): $180,600 - $271,000 USD
