About the Role

The Manager, Deal Management Finance supports the development, planning, implementation, and execution of the corporate strategy within the customer business agreement process to drive business primarily with issuers, acquirers and merchants. This role has the primary responsibility of supporting business development finance for the Japan business to build profitable and protected deals for Mastercard by playing an active advisory role in business, strategic and financial related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support Japan division and assist account / BD managers in complex business deals for new and existing customers, ensuring commercial profitability for Mastercard from initiation to closure.
  • Conduct regular reviews of live deals with account managers and leadership team to highlight concerns and progress deals to achieve approvals.
  • Perform rigorous reviews, negotiations, and scenario analysis on business cases to assess risk versus return tradeoffs.
  • Work and negotiate with business owners to improve deal structures.
  • Assertively convince account teams to sell harder to their customers.
  • Conduct benchmark analysis on assumptions in business cases and reality checks on ROIs and NPVs for contracts.
  • Provide guidance to the legal department on deal structures, business dynamics, and final clearance of legal documentation.
  • Communicate corporate and regional policies and establish review processes to ensure financial control, compliance, and adherence to local statutory regulations.
  • Build capabilities within the business to enhance financial acumen, understanding of business case modeling, financial implications of decisions, and alignment to divisional financial objectives.
  • Be creative and entrepreneurial, managing risks with innovation and embracing value creation in a competitive market.
  • Work closely with business teams to develop and monitor performance of strategic deals and other growth opportunities.
  • Facilitate and identify new pricing initiatives and structuring opportunities.
  • Support and drive regional Deal Management projects and initiatives in the Japan division and across the AP region.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and timely submission of Deal Management reporting.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in business development partnering and financial modelling or Financial Performance & Analysis (FP&A).
  • Working experience in the Payment industry and/or in global companies is a strong plus.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAP would be highly preferred, but not essential.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and influence others in a global, matrix organization structure.
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and demonstrate great teamwork.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English.
  • Strong employee relations, influencing, and management partnering skills.
  • Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed.
  • Report any suspected information security violation or breach.
  • Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines.
