About the Role
You will build and maintain our new data platform (Dagster, dbt, AWS ECS, and GCP GBQ), actively driving the transition. You will develop a product that serves as the foundation for other data teams, enhancing their efficiency with tailored tools, monitoring, data checks, connectors, cost control, testing, CI/CD, cataloging, and more.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain our new data platform (Dagster, dbt, AWS ECS, and GCP GBQ) and actively drive the transition.
- Develop a product that serves as the foundation for other data teams, enhancing their efficiency with tailored tools, monitoring, data checks, connectors, cost control, testing, CI/CD, cataloging, and more.
- Maintain and optimize the company's largest and most critical pipelines.
- Responsible for moving terabytes of data from MySQL (AWS) to GBQ nightly, including daily synchronizations, ensuring no impact on source system performance.
- Take ownership of the most critical reports in the company, which serve as the basis for Executive Board decisions and other departmental data teams.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in Data Engineering and Software Engineering, particularly with high-volume, business-critical pipelines.
- Experience in maintaining and building modern data platforms and acting as a multiplier for other engineering teams.
- Deep, practical experience with our target stack: Dagster, dbt, Google BigQuery (GBQ), and AWS (ECS).
- Strong software engineering fundamentals (CI/CD, Testing, Best Practices, Design Patterns) applied to Data Engineering.
- Expert-level SQL and Python skills.
- Knowledge of infrastructure setups (Docker, Terraform/CloudFormation).
- Sharp, quick mind with a deep understanding of Data Engineering best practices, coupled with the pragmatism to know when to implement them and when to deliver.
- Egoless collaboration, bringing high energy, clarity, and a 'Team-First' mentality to discussions.
- Ability to grasp complex processes easily and communicate clearly with various stakeholders.
- Negotiation-level English proficiency.
