About the Role
Assist in daily operations of the Finishing Department at American Packaging Corporation, a leading flexible packaging converter in North America.
Responsibilities
- Participate in training and practice STOP Safety Program fundamentals to achieve a zero-accident rate.
- Retrieve necessary set up information and follow job jacket instructions.
- Safely and efficiently assist with assigned production machinery, monitoring quality, production, and waste.
- Ensure immediate work area is free of clutter and perform cleaning/sanitation responsibilities safely.
- Monitor all quality requirements and complete necessary quality check sheets.
- Actively participate in safety programs and complete required safety observations.
- Understand and follow plant safety rules.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings.
- Work all scheduled shifts and required overtime hours.
- Train new employees as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
- May require manual lifting not to exceed 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to airborne particles and vibration.
- Noise level is usually moderate.
Skills
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
Location
- Rochester, NY
Work Type
- 12 hour rotating shifts, 7am - 7pm and 7pm -7am, on a 2-2-3 schedule
Education Level
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
