About the Role
As a Mechanical Designer at SSOE, you'll play a key role in designing the mechanical systems that support some of the world's most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities. You'll collaborate with engineers, project managers, and cross-disciplinary teams to develop detailed designs for HVAC, piping, exhaust, and process utility systems that enable cutting-edge manufacturing operations. Responsibilities
- Produce comprehensive technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models aligning with project requirements and client expectations.
- Lead the creation, refinement, and finalization of designs encompassing industrial and domestic piping, plumbing, HVAC ducting, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, motor control, process chemicals, fire protection, and potentially other mechanical building systems.
- Design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to maintain precise environmental conditions.
- Apply established design techniques, exercising judgment to adapt and modify design concepts while ensuring compliance with company and team CAD standards.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to perform load calculations, airflow balancing, and equipment sizing.
- Collaborate closely with design teams, Engineers, Project Managers, and stakeholders to address specific objectives and propose viable solutions.
- Facilitate seamless coordination among various design disciplines to fulfill design package requirements.
- Conduct field verifications and site assessments to resolve and integrate solutions into design packages, troubleshooting design issues during construction.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proficiency working with AutoCAD is required.
- Familiarity with HVAC design standards and codes including ASHRAE 62.1, IMC, NFPA 90A, and local building codes relevant to mechanical system design.
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience with designs that contain HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, pump hydraulics, exhaust, process chemicals, wastewater discharge, or other similar mechanical building systems.
- Strong communication skills enabling effective collaboration and clear client interaction during design reviews and RFIs.
