About the Role
Baselayer is building the most comprehensive, accurate, and continuously-current identity graph of US businesses and consumers. This role involves owning product features end-to-end, including schema design, data ingestion, entity resolution, API endpoints, and performance optimization under real customer load.
Responsibilities
- Ingest and normalize heterogeneous public records into the graph, owning the full pipeline from ingestion to normalization to repository to API surface.
- Build and maintain entity resolution and linking systems to match entities across sources with varying keys, misspellings, and address formats.
- Design and ship customer-facing APIs for search, lookup, monitoring, and webhook delivery.
- Own schema design and zero-downtime migrations on a database that is live 24/7.
- Optimize performance and scale for 10x volume, efficient ingestion pipelines, and low API latencies.
- Build multi-tenancy and access control, scoping every query by organization, user, and permission at the data layer.
Requirements
- Shipped product features touching ingestion, storage, API, and customer interaction in production.
- Owned and evolved a Postgres schema supporting real financial decisions.
- Strong async Python experience with services running at scale.
- Deep Postgres expertise including schema design under live load, EXPLAIN ANALYZE proficiency, and zero-downtime migration tooling.
- Experience with FastAPI or a close equivalent, including shipping real APIs with auth, OpenAPI contracts, and structured response models.
- Experience building multi-tenant APIs with load-bearing access control scoped at the data layer.
