About the Role
Gain real-world experience on exciting archaeological projects, connect with recent college graduates and company leaders, and perform assignments under the supervision of professionals. Assist with a variety of archeological field and reporting work, including desktop evaluations, field surveys, and curation.
Responsibilities
- Gain real-world experience on exciting archaeological projects
- Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
- Perform assignments under the direct supervision of your Section Manager, Cultural Resource Specialists, or other professionals
- Assist with a variety of archeological field and reporting work, such as conducting desktop evaluations, field surveys, and curation
- Assist project archeologists and crew chiefs as needed
- Perform other duties as needed
- Walk up to 6 miles a day
- Record cultural resources in the field without any physical assistance
- Lift up to 25 pounds without assistance
- Work hours other than 8 to 5 which may include weekends and/or night shifts
- Complete sketch maps of sites
- Complete field forms accurately and concisely
- Use hand-held GPS units
- Photograph resources
Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
- Attention to detail a must
- Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History or closely related field
- 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
- Be able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures).
- Candidates must also have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks.
- Have (or able to obtain) a valid Texas Driver's License
- Be able to operate a vehicle day or night
