Responsibilities
- Automate recurring bookkeeping work by integrating spend management and other tools with DATEV.
- Build rules and API-based connectors to automate manual bookkeeping tasks.
- Migrate bookkeeping and VAT compliance from external providers into a DATEV environment.
- Design a clean chart-of-accounts, documentation, and audit trail within DATEV.
- Own intercompany reconciliation and consolidation across entities.
- Build the foundation for IFRS compliance as the company scales beyond German GAAP.
- Drive tool setup and integration, connecting feeder systems with DATEV.
- Validate tax and account mappings.
- Design standardized procure-to-pay and expense workflows with clear audit trails.
- Eliminate duplicate entry and recurring errors through root-cause fixes and automation.
- Own reporting and advisor coordination, delivering timely financial data.
- Proactively flag risks and decisions to keep closings, filings, and audits on track.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors.
Requirements
- Real in-house accounting experience including AR/AP, bank reconciliations, accruals and deferrals, and monthly closing.
- Experience with DATEV Rechnungswesen or a comparable system.
- Demonstrated experience taking a process from manual and external to in-house, automated, and owned.
- Experience with migration, chart-of-accounts and VAT code design, and SOPs.
- Experience with a measurable improvement in close speed or data quality.
- Strong intercompany and multi-entity experience, including issuing/booking intercompany invoices, performing monthly reconciliations, and producing audit-ready schedules.
- German GAAP fluency.
- Comfort working independently with periodic review.
- Passion for in-house accounting, German bookkeeping in DATEV, and building reliable close and compliance processes.
- Ability to streamline workflows, fix root causes, and implement pragmatic controls and automations.
- Adaptability and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear communication with stakeholders.
- Continuous improvement of finance engine operations.
