About the Role

eBay is seeking a Senior Single Sign-On (SSO) & Identity and Access Management (IAM) Engineer to join their Identity & Security team. This role involves designing, securing, and scaling the identity fabric for eBay's internal workforce and partner network, requiring a deeply technical expert to untangle complex federated identity issues, optimize session management, and drive seamless integrations.

Responsibilities

Architect, deploy, and support enterprise-grade SSO solutions using SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, WS-Federation, SCIM, and LDAP.
Act as the primary subject matter expert for enterprise identity stacks, with an emphasis on the Ping Identity Suite or equivalent hybrid platforms (e.g., EntraID).
Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and network-level authentication challenges.
Partner with internal software engineering squads to securely integrate multi-tiered environments into the SSO fabric.
Monitor and analyze server-level logs, configure trace debugging, and interpret SAML assertions or OAuth tokens.
Ensure identity policies align with Zero Trust standards, enforcing Contextual MFA, step-up authentication, and adaptive risk engine rules.
Respond promptly to production issues by serving on an on-call rotation and providing escalation support.

Requirements

5–8+ years of dedicated engineering experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), with a focus on Single Sign-On.
Deep hands-on proficiency with PingFederate/EntraID for policy tree configuration and custom token generation.
Thorough knowledge of lower-level network routing, load balancing (F5/NGINX), and HTTP/HTTPS protocol mechanics.
Proven experience connecting SaaS platforms, Developer APIs, and on-prem enterprise applications into unified auth pipelines.
Strong capability in scripting (Python, PowerShell, or Bash) for automation.
