About the Role
FDJ UNITED is seeking a Tech Lead Back-End to modernize the Group's sports betting platform, enhancing its performance, quality, resilience, agility, and scalability for both French and international markets. You will work in a high-volume, real-time, availability, and security-constrained distributed environment, collaborating with various teams to ensure the technical vision and quality of critical back-end services.
Responsibilities
- Define and communicate the technical vision for squads, aligning with target architecture and product goals.
- Serve as the technical point of reference for the team, guiding developers in design choices, complex problem-solving, and technical growth.
- Design and evolve critical back-end services capable of handling significant transactional volumes and high real-time constraints.
- Challenge and validate architectural choices with Architects, ensuring proper implementation within squads.
- Ensure development quality through code reviews, engineering standards, automated testing, and continuous practice improvement.
- Secure API and event stream designs for robustness, maintainability, scalability, and performance.
- Coordinate major technical topics and facilitate decision-making with Product, QA, DevOps, SRE, Security, and Architecture stakeholders.
- Anticipate and manage the reduction of technical debt, balancing delivery needs with application longevity.
- Optimize service performance and resilience, focusing on latency, resource consumption, data consistency, and extreme load management.
- Contribute to operational excellence by enhancing observability, monitoring, alerting, and CI/CD, DevOps, and SRE practices.
- Play a key role in complex incident management, root cause analysis, and implementing lasting corrective actions.
- Promote knowledge sharing, document critical components, and disseminate technical best practices within and beyond the squad.
- Contribute to improving the development cycle, including the adoption of AI-based tools and practices.
Requirements
- A Master's degree (Bac+5) in computer science or equivalent.
- Significant experience of at least 7 years in Back-End development, including prior successful experience as a Tech Lead, Lead Developer, or technical referent.
- Solid expertise in Java, distributed architectures, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Strong proficiency in Kafka, microservices architectures, and critical transactional systems.
- Experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
- Demonstrated ability to structure technical choices, conduct design reviews, and mentor developers.
- Solid understanding of performance, debugging, observability, resilience, and high availability challenges.
- Experience with Agile environments, DevOps practices, CI/CD, containerization, and automation.
- Experience in observability, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of application security challenges and deployment security.
- Good knowledge of Cloud environments, application security, and production operational constraints.
- Excellent communication, pedagogical, and collaboration skills in a multi-team environment.
- Professional English proficiency for an international environment.
