About the Role
The Assistant Construction Manager assists in providing onsite leadership, coordination, and direction for construction management activities, ensuring projects remain on budget, on schedule, and meet design requirements. This role supports construction in the Education Sector and may supervise field administrative staff and Field/Project Engineers.
Responsibilities
- Provides assistant construction management services on DSA projects
- Ensures compliance with project requirements for DSA projects through knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications
- Oversight of construction progress
- Coordinates and monitors activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
- Assists Construction Manager in managing project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures
- Conducts project meetings and provides meeting minutes, documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information
- Ensures adherence to contractual requirements regarding safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
- Assists in managing project logistics, organization, and safety
- Ensures project closeout, including obtaining guarantees, warranties, and provisions for turnover to the owner, and DSA closeout requirements
- Performs other duties as required to ensure project success
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management or Architecture (Extensive relevant construction management experience in lieu of education may be considered)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Assistant Construction Manager
- Experience with DSA / public projects in California
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products
- Experience with project-related Construction Management systems is preferred
- Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) is preferred
