About the Role

This is a new position within the ILRC’s robust Communications Team, supporting Central Valley-based staff and teams with media outreach, writing, and video work for social media and other projects.

Responsibilities

  • Media outreach to uplift the work of the Central Valley, Know Your Rights and California Enforcement teams.
  • Provide writing support for news releases, talking points, video scripts, and translation work (Spanish).
  • Collaborate with the digital strategy team to create social media videos.
  • Work within coalitions related to Central Valley and Enforcement work.
  • Attend internal meetings to support relevant teams.
  • Travel to various events to support staff in the San Francisco area and the Central Valley.
  • Act as backup communications support for legislative work in Sacramento.

Requirements

  • Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, data analysis, and project management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Commitment to advancing the power of immigrant communities.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • A college or university degree or possess knowledge equivalent to a 4-year degree.
  • Passion for immigrant rights.
  • Fluency in Spanish; written Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 products including Excel, SharePoint, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Video skills are a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong facilitation and presentation skills, report writing skills, and the ability to communicate complex data, findings, and ideas clearly.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-departmentally and appreciate working as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Enjoyment of the initial building phase of a new project.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Recognition of how race and ethnicity, gender, and other identities intersect in the communities served.
  • Growth mindset and commitment to gathering feedback for improvements.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple streams of work.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time within California and occasionally out of state.
  • Willingness to support the organization in other duties as assigned.

  • $85,000 to $95,000 annually
