About the Role
Blumen is building the regulatory intelligence layer for American infrastructure, combining regulatory information with geospatial datasets to help energy companies and environmental consultants understand project risks. This is a hands-on production role for an environmental practitioner to help build the AI-native version of environmental planning, evaluating real projects, researching environmental questions, and ensuring accuracy. The role involves reviewing maps, regulations, and AI findings, correcting errors, and structuring information under real deadlines. As expertise grows, there will be opportunities to identify patterns for product improvement and work with product and engineering teams. This role is ideal for an ambitious environmental professional seeking to disrupt traditional consulting and build the future tools for their field.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate sites for environmental, land-use, and permitting risks.
- Produce and review critical issues analyses, permit assessments, and environmental screens.
- Research uncertain findings using authoritative regulatory, agency, planning, and project sources.
- Review AI-generated analysis closely and correct unsupported, incomplete, or misleading conclusions.
- Convert recurring project work into clearer methods, evaluation cases, and product requirements.
Requirements
- Experience in environmental planning, permitting, natural resources, land use, environmental consulting, government, or infrastructure development.
- Ability to distinguish material project risk from generic database hits and explain next steps for investigation.
- Extremely hardworking, humble, and detail-oriented.
- Cares about citations and factual accuracy.
- Takes pride in completing repetitive work well.
- Dependable when project volume is high.
