About the Role

IOA is revolutionizing healthcare by enabling seniors to age in place through innovative models that enhance lives, communities, and save healthcare systems money. We challenge the status quo to create new ways for aging adults and those with disabilities to maintain their quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and assistance to participants within the clinic to help them live safely at home.
  • Assist participants with personal care, including bathing, peri-care, skin and hair care, and eating.
  • Help participants in and out of bed and provide assistance with toileting and ambulating.
  • Take vital signs and collect urine and sputum samples.
  • Prepare participants to see the MD/RN, complete and document blood draws, skin tests, and administer oral medications.
  • Communicate collected data, such as vital signs and urine output, to appropriate clinic staff.
  • Work with the clinic aide to ensure exam rooms and clinic storage are stocked and organized.
  • Prepare participants for visits with Primary Care Providers.
  • Provide behavioral/emotional supervision or support, including reality orientation and reminders for medical care and diet restrictions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of clinic areas.
  • Report on the status and progress of participants to clinic staff.
  • Fulfill administrative requirements, including reporting, keeping statistical records and logs, and utilizing the electronic medical records system.
  • Attend staff conferences and meetings.
  • May participate in the training and orientation of Health Workers and volunteers.
  • Encourage actions that promote good public relations with participants, their families, visitors, and the community.
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule, including Saturdays, as services are provided six days a week.
  • Provide back-up administrative assistance if the clinic clerk is absent.
  • Perform other reasonably related jobs as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a certified Medical Assistant program.
  • Interest and willingness to work in a multilingual, multicultural environment.
  • Knowledge of the community served.
  • Current/prior experience in phlebotomy.
  • Must be able to lift, transfer, push/pull, maneuver, and reposition 35 lbs.
  • Ability to reach, bend and walk.
  • Ability to perform five-finger manipulations.
