About the Role
Gain real-world experience on exciting archaeological projects, connect with recent college graduates and company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs, and perform assignments under the direct supervision of your Section Manager, Cultural Resource Specialists, or other professionals. Assist with a variety of archeological field and reporting work, such as conducting desktop evaluations, field surveys, and curation. Assist project archeologists and crew chiefs as needed. Perform other duties as needed.
Responsibilities
- Gain real-world experience on exciting archaeological projects
- Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
- Perform assignments under the direct supervision of your Section Manager, Cultural Resource Specialists, or other professionals
- Assist with a variety of archeological field and reporting work, such as conducting desktop evaluations, field surveys, and curation
- Assist project archeologists and crew chiefs as needed
- Perform other duties as needed
- Walk up to 6 miles a day
- Record cultural resources in the field without any physical assistance
- Lift up to 25 pounds without assistance
- Work hours other than 8 to 5 which may include weekends and/or night shifts
- Complete sketch maps of sites
- Complete field forms accurately and concisely
- Use hand-held GPS units
- Photograph resources
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
- 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
- Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Be able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures)
- Candidates must also have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks.
- Attention to detail a must
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
- Have (or able to obtain) a valid Texas Driver’s License
- Be able to operate a vehicle day or night
