About the Role
The Golden State Warriors are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join the Business Strategy and Analytics team. This role contributes to the organization's mission of becoming a global leader in experiences and entertainment by collaborating with data engineers, data scientists, and analysts. The position reports to the Senior Director, Business Strategy and Analytics.
Responsibilities
- Build scalable and efficient data pipelines for ELT/ETL processes.
- Design optimal data models and schema structures in collaboration with data scientists, engineers, and analysts.
- Optimize data pipelines, queries, and database structures for performance and cost efficiency.
- Implement data quality checks, validation processes, and data governance policies.
- Develop monitoring systems and alerts for data pipeline issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and document processes.
- Maintain understanding of emerging data and AI technologies to develop generative AI data products and pipelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Data Science, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience working on a data team.
- Experience managing and working with data in a cloud environment.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python).
- Experience building and maintaining complex ELT/ETL data pipelines using orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).
- Knowledge of data modeling concepts and experience designing efficient data models and schemas.
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and compliance practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical partners.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with business partners and peers.
- Ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment.
- Passion and curiosity about sports and entertainment.
