About the Role
The Mechanical Designer works on a diverse array of projects across the Mineral Processing industry, involved in the entire design process from concept to detailed design, with a clear focus on Mechanical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Complete detailed design from sketches or specification outlines on mechanical, process, electrical, structural, hydraulics, or civil engineering fields under direction of engineers or a supervising design drafter.
- Create 3D designs from complex, multidiscipline engineering concepts.
- Participate in the review of designs and advise on technical drafting difficulties or compliance requirements.
- Comply with the Change Management process for engineering design.
- Prepare drawings of designs relating to plant, equipment, services, or other facilities or structures.
- Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the Quality management process and system.
- Ensure engineering designs follow the standard Sedgman design workflows, systems, and procedures.
- Provide drafting support to project teams in line with management direction while maximizing individual and team utilization.
- Focus on meeting expectations for schedule, quality, and client satisfaction.
- Check drafting deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to design specifications and intent.
- Apply attention and diligence to uphold quality standards and client requirements to complete tasks efficiently.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' industry experience in a design/consultancy environment, preferably supporting mining, minerals processing, or heavy industries.
- Experience with projects from conceptual design through to detailed engineering.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Previous MS Office skills.
Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D modelling programs, such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, Advanced Steel, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Vault and Plant3D.
