About the Role
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, supervision, and day-to-day operations of the nursing department at a detoxification treatment facility. This role works closely with facility leadership, medical providers, and the clinical team to ensure clients receive safe, compassionate, and high-quality care throughout the detoxification process. We are looking for a strong, hands-on nursing leader who is passionate about behavioral health and substance use treatment, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to supporting both clients and nursing staff.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and supervise the daily activities of the nursing department.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to RNs, LVNs/LPNs, and other nursing staff.
- Ensure appropriate and consistent nursing coverage based on client needs, census, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the delivery of nursing care from admission through discharge, including assessment, care planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Work collaboratively with medical providers, clinical staff, and facility leadership to promote client safety and continuity of care.
- Ensure the nursing department remains compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, licensing requirements, and organizational policies.
- Maintain established infection-control practices, standard precautions, medication-management procedures, and safety protocols.
- Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, orientation, training, and ongoing education of nursing staff.
- Complete performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and corrective guidance when necessary.
- Promote a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
- Ensure clients are treated with dignity, compassion, privacy, and respect at all times.
- Assist with direct patient care and nursing operations when needed.
- Participate in quality improvement and risk-management initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current, active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Nursing leadership, supervisory, or management experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in detox, substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, or a related setting strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, withdrawal management, behavioral health treatment models, and applicable compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively manage staff and priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with medical, clinical, administrative, and support teams.
- Must maintain all certifications required by the State of Texas and the facility.
