About the Role

As an Associate Electrical Engineer, you will support a variety of substation projects, developing protection and control design deliverables, physical design, and preparing equipment specifications. You will correspond with clients, vendors, and subcontractors, potentially travel for design reviews and site visits, adhere to budgets and schedules, perform QA/QC, and support business development activities.

Responsibilities

Support a variety of substation projects ranging up to 765kV in engineering detailed design and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC).
Develop protection and control design deliverables including protective relays, panel arrangements, one line/single line diagrams, three line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, relay panel wiring and equipment wiring within high voltage substation designs.
Develop physical design deliverables including yard layout plans, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems within high voltage substation designs.
Prepare equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement and construction.
Correspond with clients, vendors and subcontractors.
Potential travel opportunities to client and vendor offices and/or project sites for design reviews, construction coordination and field verification.
Adhere to and/or prepare design budgets and schedules.
Perform QA/QC responsibilities.
Provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
Perform substation designs, including physical design, protection and control with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
Continues to learn and remains current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies and procedures.
Prepares a variety of increasingly complex engineering deliverables.
Performs research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
Prepares increasingly complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
Understands, adheres to and/or prepare budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
May recognize, define and resolve problems within assigned area.
May provide direction and guidance to others.
Assign and guide tasks to develop entry level professionals and/or interns.
Coordinates with project leadership and other internal/external team members on high voltage substation projects.
Interacts as needed with other disciplines on details of design work.
Works to understand external client's interest and drivers through regular interaction and communication.
Focuses on needs of internal clients and project leadership.
Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
May assist with performance management process, recognition, and any corrective actions required.
Actively mentors and trains entry level professionals and interns.

Requirements

Skills

High voltage (HV) substation design experience – Physical and/or Protection & Controls
Proficient with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Programs (such as Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
