About the Role
Nova Scotia Health is seeking emergency physicians for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH) in Sydney, Cape Breton. CBRH is the second largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia, serving over 200,000 patients annually and offering a range of primary and secondary services.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in the resuscitation and stabilization of major trauma patients and critically ill patients.
- Appropriately assess and manage the full spectrum of emergency medicine presentations from injury to unexpected and undifferentiated medical and surgical illness in all ages, to mental health emergencies.
- Provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care.
- Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
- Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities.
Requirements
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) (can be American Board Certified).
- Family physician-trained Emergency Physicians must have membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or CFPC-EM.
- Specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
- Current PALSCertification.
- Current ATLSCertification.
- Current ACLSCertification.
