About the Role
The Senior Manager Team Security will support the Director of Security in implementing safety and security procedures for assigned players, coaches and executives of the New York Knicks. This position will proactively collaborate with the VP of Team Security to coordinate scheduling of game day security arrangements, liaise with local police, and manage other security matters as needed. The role is responsible for assisting in the coordination of specific player needs in accordance with existing team and Madison Square Garden policies.
Responsibilities
- Travel with the team throughout the season (preseason, regular season and playoffs) and provide personal player security for all games at MSG and road games.
- Coordinate, prepare, and disseminate all relative information regarding player security to appropriate team personnel and in-house staff.
- Interact and coordinate efforts with all necessary team personnel and MSG staff on game nights.
- Provide personal security for family members of assigned Knicks players, coaches and executives, as directed.
- Ensure highest levels of guest experience while providing a secure environment for Knicks players in areas where the potential of public and player interaction could exist.
- Assist in communicating all related information regarding player security to the team and MSG staff on game nights.
- Confer and provide information regarding operational and investigative situations when necessary.
- Work closely with the Director of Event Operations, Director of Building Security, Director of MSG Intelligence and the Director of Investigations to coordinate player activities and needs.
- Collaborate and partner with the Director of Basketball Operations regularly and aid him/her as needed.
- Manage safety data software, systems, and groups to support data collection, visualization, and distribution to identify safety issues, best practices, trending of safety information, and assessment of localized and systemic risk.
- Engage collaboratively with leaders from Aviation, Corporate Safety, government agencies, vendors, and industry to identify and resolve trending and systemic safety issues.
- Evaluate events affecting safety and provide insight to senior management on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Deliver reports including specific safety trends, systemic observations, data analysis, and tracking of action item responses.
- Provide exceptional experiences for guests, partners, and team members by adhering to appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.
Requirements
- 8+ Years of protection related experience.
- Minimum 5-7 years of previous law enforcement or security experience.
- Experience working with celebrities, high profile athletes, and their family members.
- Experience working with law enforcement and coordinating security and safety needs for clients.
- Ability to travel as required in support of investigations or security operations.
- Ability to be flexible as it relates to scheduling, including split days off, work weekends and holidays in a 24 X 7 environment.
- Extensive travel is required.
- General physical requirements such as lifting 100lbs, standing for extended periods, walking long distances and working in inclement weather.
- Must pass physical fitness examination administered by the company.
