About the Role
This 18-month training program is designed for new or recent college graduates interested in the banking industry. Participants will learn to support Commercial Lenders, assist with daily underwriting duties, manage existing portfolios, and handle credit line increases/renewals. Upon completion, graduates will transition into a full Portfolio Manager role.
Responsibilities
- Collect and review all required financial data prior to submission to Credit, pre-closing and post-closing.
- Spread all business returns, financial statements, personal financial statements, and rent rolls.
- Run all D&B and Experian credit reports and UCC Searches.
- Complete all HMDA forms.
- Prepare the lender portion of loan presentations.
- File all documents and create new files.
- Review and approve all financial information request letters prior to mailing to customers.
- Manage the financial information collection process.
- Review and manage pending loan maturities 90 days prior to maturity date.
- Correspond with loan officers and customers to gather information for expiring loans.
- Identify and address credit weaknesses and deficiencies, including non-compliance with financial covenants.
- Manage annual reviews and report significant changes in borrower financial status, guarantors, or appraised values.
- Monitor and update classified loans on a quarterly basis.
- Prepare quarterly Problem Loan Reports and Quarterly Portfolio Review Committee reports.
- Attend weekly credit/portfolio meetings.
- Review assigned portfolio with Executive Management and Relationship Managers quarterly.
- Interface with loan review, regulators, and/or auditors as required, including follow-up on cited loans.
- Assist in managing Credit file documents to ensure all appropriate information is updated and maintained.
- Handle special projects as assigned.
- Work closely with all members of the loan floor on all facets of the loan process.
- Manage the closing checklist with Administration.
- Prepare adverse action letters for customers.
- Participate in customer calls with assigned loan officers.
- Manage the site inspection process.
- Review loan documents prepared in-house or by bank counsel to verify compliance with original credit approval.
- Responsibilities may vary based on the phase of the program.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics.
- Interest in the banking industry.
