About the Role

Deliver lifesaving care in the Northeast region, providing advanced care in state-of-the-art helicopters while continuing your education with company support. This role offers a new adventure in flight nursing.

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality care including assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing established standards and guidelines.
Assess the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize care for safe patient transport.
Carry out the mission and goals of Air Methods CBS, ensuring safety throughout the transport continuum.
Provide nursing care within scope of practice from initial contact until patient care is relinquished.
Maintain thorough patient care documentation.
Maintain and demonstrate competency in clinical knowledge and psychomotor skills.
Communicate educational needs and maintain current documentation of licensure, certifications, training, and compliance.
Demonstrate proficiency with all Air Methods CBS equipment and supplies.
Report medical equipment failures promptly and coordinate repairs.
Maintain adequate patient care supplies and keep the aircraft clean and organized.
Attend all pre-mission briefings, debriefings, and complete required documentation.
Participate in pre-mission checklists and assist the pilot with radio, navigational, and visual observation activities.
Comply with all safety standards to protect self, medical personnel, patients, and equipment.
Conduct aircraft safety briefings when needed.
Serve as a flight resource to neonatal/pediatric personnel when transporting specialty patients.
Perform advanced skills and procedures as approved by Air Methods CBS Medical Director(s).
Participate in patient follow-up, referring institution coordination, and outreach marketing and education activities.
Serve as a preceptor and/or participate in the orientation of new employees and students.
Communicate program goals and objectives to new team members.
Participate regularly in Air Methods CBS meetings, activities, projects, and committees.
Be available for a minimum of two 24-hour shifts per week at any CBS base where currently licensed.
Travel approximately 85% of the time.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Minimum three (3) years of recent critical care/emergency nursing experience within the last 5 years, or as required by state/local EMS regulations.
One year of flight experience required.
Maintain a weight not to exceed 225 pounds including empty flight suit and boots.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including 24-hour shifts, overtime, and on-call rotations.
Dependable and self-motivated while working in a frequently changing environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Current RN License(s) for states of practice where Air Methods maintains CBS locations.
EMS or MICN certification/licensure as required by state regulations.
Current certifications in Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR; ACLS; PALS or equivalent (AHA courses if state or county required) and TNCC/ITLS/PHTLS advanced provider (if state or county required).
Specialty certification (CFRN, CCRN, or CEN) are required.
One (1) of the following certifications are acceptable: TNCC, ATLS/ATCN, TPATC or CAMTS approved advanced trauma course.
Current NRP certification.
NIMS Training: IS 100, 200, 700, 800, and HazMat.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
