About the Role
As an MSAT Value Stream Engineer III at Thermo Fisher Scientific's Grand Island, New York site, you will support and advance manufacturing processes for life sciences products. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on manufacturing, problem-solving, process improvement, and introducing new technologies within a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering expertise and technical leadership for cell culture media manufacturing.
- Partner with Production, Quality, R&D, and other technical teams to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Support new product introductions and troubleshoot production challenges.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen operations and improve safety, quality, productivity, cost, and manufacturing reliability.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify workflow barriers, improve throughput, and strengthen manufacturing performance.
- Provide 24-hour real-time technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing issues.
- Identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Lead or support deviation investigations, change controls, CAPAs, risk assessments, and root cause analyses.
- Develop, optimize, and validate manufacturing processes.
- Support new product introductions and the implementation of new manufacturing technologies and automation solutions.
- Identify and implement process improvements and cost-reduction opportunities.
- Help minimize production disruptions and improve the reliability and consistency of manufacturing operations.

- Support additional business and manufacturing priorities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or another related scientific or engineering discipline.
- 4+ years of experience in process engineering, product development, MSAT, or a related manufacturing/technical function.
- Strong understanding of GMP, ISO standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience with process validation and change control.
- Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience with root cause analysis and risk assessment methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or support process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Ability to work in cleanroom environments when required.
- Experience supporting or providing technical guidance to engineers and technicians.
