About the Role
Axiom Hotel in San Francisco is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented, and hardworking Maintenance Manager to join their team. This role is crucial for maintaining the hotel's facilities and ensuring guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Research and interview vendors to obtain the best price and availability of maintenance supplies.
- Review and prioritize all daily work orders.
- Oversee and administer the property preventive maintenance programs to ensure consistent, reliable operation of systems and to minimize downtime and loss.
- Participate in regular property-wide inspections.
- Initiate or review all Maintenance Department capital expenditure requests prior to approval.
- Schedule, coordinate, and inspect all rooms-related Preventative Maintenance, rooms refurbishment, and public area projects.
- Act as hotel liaison with outside contractors and agencies during major rehabilitation projects and facility additions.
- Follow specified procedures to correctly handle cash.
- Continually monitor service and quality standards as measured by guest correspondence, staff feedback, and mystery shopper programs.
- Monitor efficiency, consumptions, and hotel allocation of natural gas, electricity, and other fuel sources.
- Lead the team to maintain high levels of productivity and morale.
- Purchase all supplies and plans needed for the department.
- Train staff on all SOPs and ensure understanding and compliance.
- Complete payroll and timekeeping logs.
- Respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner, working to resolve conflicts and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Model the highest work and safety standards for the staff.
- Assist in proper documentation of Personnel/Payroll transactions for processing in Human Resources.
- Ensure that all hazardous substances are handled, stored, and labeled according to state and federal regulations.
- Focus on safety and the following of safe work practices by yourself and those under your direction.
- Assist the Director of Engineering to conduct regular departmental operations meetings, including monthly safety meetings.
- Attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
- Promote and comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions.
- Perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.
Requirements
- Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
- Must have a minimum three years post high school education, preferably in a related area of studies, or equivalent work experience.
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings, diagrams, and blueprints of all trades.
- Experienced with basic hand tools and power tools used to perform assigned duties.
- Must have a valid driver’s license for the state.
- Familiar with OSHA, SB198, local Department of Health regulations, and relevant current laws governing handling of hazardous substances.
- Trained in air conditioning and refrigeration, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems and equipment typically found in a hotel property.
- Prefer at least two years’ experience at a resort or hotel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public.
- Possess a courteous, friendly, and professional manner.
- Good team player with excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to train staff and ensure a high level of customer service.
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once.
- Ability to ensure security and confidentiality of guest and hotel information.
- Must be organized and efficient with a high attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to effectively manage staff to maintain a high level of morale and productivity.
- Must model the highest work and safety standards for the staff.
- Stands and walks moderate to long distances throughout shift.
- Bends, stoops, and reaches to perform routine job tasks.
- Requires strength, flexibility, and good reflexes to operate staging and mechanized material moving devices, and to operate large machinery.
- Regularly required to handle and move objects weighing up to 80 lbs. over short distances.
- Must be flexible to work long, sometimes irregular hours.
- This position is non-exempt and will require standing and moving at least 75% of the time.

- $85,000 - $95,000 annually
