About the Role
This position is focused on generating opportunities, client relationships, and brokerage placements within a specific area of coverage specialty. It involves building relationships with existing and new brokerage carriers to negotiate terms and pricing with a high sense of urgency, interacting with companies and brokers via various communication channels.
Responsibilities
- Develop client relationships to generate submission opportunities and a regular flow of business.
- Review submission documents to prepare additional information, including loss pictures/summaries, loss stratifications, risk summaries, narratives, online research, and requesting necessary client information.
- Select and market risks by line of coverage to markets to negotiate terms and pricing.
- Provide comparisons and illustrations to compare options and support client presentations.
- Utilize knowledge of automated systems to develop information for new or renewal policies.
- Prepare quotations for agents and answer inquiries from agents, policyholders, or prospects.
- Review requests for cancellation and endorsements.
- Review policies for renewal consideration and remarketing.
- Request additional documentation necessary for processing applications, endorsements, or cancellations.
- Conduct marketing visits to agents and attend industry events.
- Collaborate with support associates, assistants, and central processing to ensure timely and accurate completion of work, potentially including mentorship.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have Producer’s License.
- 3 plus years of insurance experience.
- Prior exposure to insurance brokerage type activities.
- Basic familiarity with computers.
- Good oral and written communications skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- A high sense of urgency.
- Resourceful and controlled assertive behavior characteristics.
- Demonstrated negotiation & sales skills.
- Technical knowledge of insurance coverage forms and their application to exposure.
- Knowledge of departmental regulations and policies.
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions, prescribed routines, and standard accepted underwriting practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills working with Staff and Company Underwriters.
- Experience in standard underwriting practices and procedures.
- Associated classes or courses and/or industry license, or designation.
