About the Role

Newmark's graduate planning programme offers a structured path to kickstart your career in town planning and development consultancy. You will gain hands-on experience across live planning projects, work with senior chartered town planners, and develop the skills and competencies needed to achieve Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) status.

Responsibilities

Conduct site visits and appraisals, and support pre-application and due diligence advice on development sites.
Assist with the preparation and submission of planning applications, representations, and supporting planning statements.
Research and analyze national, regional, and local planning policy to support advice on development proposals.
Draft sections of planning statements, appraisals, and client reports for senior review.
Liaise with clients, local planning authorities, architects, and other professionals as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
Maintain accurate records and project data to support the wider Planning and Development team's pipeline.
Work towards RTPI chartership requirements, logging structured training and experience, and meeting regularly with a designated mentor.
Gradually take on more client-facing responsibility as competency and confidence build across projects.

Requirements

Ambition and drive to excel, with a clear commitment to working towards Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) status.
Strong analytical and research skills, comfortable working with planning policy, data, and development appraisals.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Commercial curiosity - an interest in London's planning environment and development landscape, and how policy and politics shape decision-making.
Initiative and accountability - the confidence to take ownership of tasks while knowing when to ask for guidance.
Achieved or on track to achieve an RTPI-accredited degree.
