About the Role

The Marketing Associate is responsible for developing marketing strategies to increase awareness of CPJ’s brand. This position will execute digital-first communication campaigns to increase engagement, reach, and revenue, while also expanding the supporter base, generating leads, and recruiting donors and advocates to meet fundraising targets and drive social change.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing campaigns, including creative concepts and multi-channel plans.
  • Project manage the creation of marketing assets and draft copy for web, eDMs, and digital platforms, including support for CPJ’s annual gala.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships to raise awareness and achieve brand, fundraising, and campaigning objectives.
  • Develop and implement marketing activities to enhance awareness of CPJ’s global brand.
  • Oversee the design of visual and digital communication assets and ensure brand consistency.
  • Lead the coordination of virtual and in-person events, vetting speaker requests, and identifying partnership opportunities.
  • Execute marketing activities with the Development team to achieve donor acquisition and conversion, meeting fundraising targets.
  • Implement lead generation and conversion strategies, including eDM supporter journeys, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Work with the Development team to implement data segmentation and analysis for targeted digital communications.
  • Assist with reporting on key performance metrics for campaign optimization and conduct monthly reporting and post-campaign analysis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in marketing campaigns and brand communications, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, or similar qualifications/experience.
  • Genuine passion for delivering end-to-end digital marketing campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing lead generation, acquisition, and conversion marketing strategies.
  • Strong copywriting skills.
  • Strong experience implementing marketing projects to timelines and desired outcomes.
  • Ability to produce basic graphics using Adobe Suite, Canva, or comparable software.
  • Sound knowledge of the marketing briefing, design, and production process for digital and print.
  • Experience with digital platforms such as Salesforce, Classy, GoFundMe, and Mailchimp.
  • Exceptional project management skills and ability to work across competing priorities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including relationship management.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and create partnerships.
  • Demonstrated skills in campaign measurement and tracking, with experience in optimization informed by data analysis.
  • Ability to occasionally work a weekend or night during a planned event.
  • Ability to travel within the United States as needed (typically 1 trip per year).
