About the Role
Content Platform is responsible for the full content lifecycle at Spotify, ensuring content is structured, evaluated, and delivered reliably at global scale. The Product Insights team works across the full content lifecycle to improve decision-making, catalog understanding, and ensure a safe and engaging content catalog. We are looking for a Staff Data Scientist to tackle complex, high-impact problems by combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead analyses across user behavior and content data to shape product and strategy decisions.
- Shape how we evaluate and improve content classification and taxonomy, focusing on safety, combining analytical depth with product and business needs.
- Design evaluation frameworks, including sampling strategies, baselines, metrics, and annotation-based approaches, and guide their application.
- Build scalable analytical foundations, including metrics, dashboards, and data for effective self-serve analysis.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations leadership to shape priorities and inform product strategy with data.
- Raise the analytical bar through methodological leadership, mentorship, and identifying opportunities to improve data work across domains.
Requirements
- Deep experience as a product data scientist operating at Staff level or equivalent.
- Strong foundation in statistics and experience designing evaluation and measurement approaches, including annotation-based methods and situations where controlled experiments are not feasible.
- Experience in building metrics and reporting systems that support product or policy decision-making.
- Experience building self-serve analytical tools or data agents.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with Python, DBT, or similar tools for building and maintaining reliable analytical datasets.
- Experience leveraging state-of-the-art LLM models for analysis, ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Clear communication across functions, influencing decisions with senior stakeholders, and raising analytical standards through mentorship and methodological leadership.
- Experience working on content classification, taxonomy, safety, policy, or adjacent domains where data quality and judgment are important to product decisions.
